Meet Your Guelph Naturopathic Doctors

Dr. Liz and niece Eden, 2 days old

I was inspired to become a Naturopathic Doctor by my experiences receiving Naturopathic care growing up. I’m continually thrilled to be a part of this profession, which helps people feel their best, helps families function well and raise vibrantly healthy kids, and puts the power to heal back into the hands of each person.

Video: Why I Became A Naturopathic Doctor

A little more about me: I graduated with Distinction from the University of Guelph in 2003, earning an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Toxicology. I worked as a toxicologist with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) and then joined Health Canada as a safety and efficacy evaluator for natural health products. I then went on to fulfil my lifelong dream of becoming a Naturopathic Doctor by completing the postgraduate, four-year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), the largest of Canada’s two accredited Naturopathic medical schools. During my studies, I received the Advanced Orthomolecular Research Clinical Nutrition Scholarship and two NaturoMedic Awards. Furthering my passion for international travel, learning and service, I completed elective rotations in northern India with Child and Family Health International (CFHI) and a clinical externship providing Naturopathic care in rural Kenya with the Foundation for Integrated Medicine in Africa (FIMAfrica).

I’ve also undertaken additional training and certification in the Bowen Technique with Dr. Manon Bolliger ND, FCAH, Mind-Body Medicine with Dr. Paul Epstein ND, and Hahnemannian Homeopathy with Dr. Joe Kellerstein DC, ND and Dr. Andre Saine ND, FCAH. I completed certification in Reiki in Rishikesh, India. I’m also a certified practitioner of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, a specialized acupuncture treatment that provides restorative, anti-aging and cosmetic benefits for both women and men. I completed Doula training in 2011 with the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors and have been honoured to support birthing families in Ontario and B.C.

One of my goals is to provide research-based education about naturopathic medicine and self-empowered health. My health articles have been featured in publications such as Integrated Healthcare Practitioners, Viva Magazine, Integrated Health Retailer, SpaLife Magazine and Naturopathic Currents. I’ve been a regular health and wellness guest on Rogers Television’s Inside Guelph and frequently offers seminars to patients and community groups on a range of natural health topics.

When I’m away from the clinic, I enjoy keeping active by hiking, running, skiing, gardening and being in nature. I love to experiment with whole-foods cooking so that I can pass on healthy recipes to you. I am passionate lifelong learner, love to expand my personal horizons travelling and spending precious time with my two (soon-to-be-three) incredible nieces.
