Investing in the health of both parents during the 100 days prior to conception can have a significant impact on the health of the next generation. Caring for pregnant women and optimizing women’s health in pregnancy, birth and the postpartum year can also create healthful changes in the lives of entire families. Inspired by these facts, Dr. Cherevaty works with women and couples in Guelph and the surrounding area to provide acupuncture and naturopathic care for:
Preconception & Infertility: optimizing the health and fertility of both partners prior to conception, including establishing ovulation, normalizing hormonal balance, detoxification
Pregnancy: including treatment for common concerns such as morning sickness, anemia, back pain, insomnia, emotional concerns, nutrition & blood sugar balance, urinary tract infections, digestive imbalances
Naturopathic Induction Support: for healthy, full-term or post-dates pregnancies, Naturopathic treatments can be used to gently support and prepare the body for labor and delivery, such as herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and moxibustion (moxa), and mind-body techniques
Birth: providing prenatal and continuous labor support as a Naturopathic Doula, home and hospital births in Guelph and surrounding communities
Postpartum: enhancing mother’s recovery and tissue healing, breastfeeding support, baby blues, postpartum depression, infant health
Dr. Cherevaty also works with women and their partners to address concerns of infertility and provides pre-conception care to optimize the chances for conception and of having a healthy pregnancy, delivery and postpartum recovery. For many couples who are having difficulty conceiving, it can be important to take a few months to optimize all aspects of health through dietary assessment and modifications, detoxification and stress reduction.
In addition, naturopathic approaches including herbal medicine and acupuncture can help to normalize hormonal imbalances, improve fertility, reduce the negative effects of stress on the body, and are highly complementary to conventional infertility treatments from hormonal therapy to in vitro fertilization (IVF) in intra-uterine insemination (IUI), increasing the success rates of these conventional procedures.
Dr. Cherevaty attends births as a naturopathic doula in Guelph and surrounding communities. Naturopathic Doula Care includes two prenatal visits, on-call continuous labor support and birth attendance, and postpartum care. Women who are under the care of midwives or an obstetrician-gynecologist can benefit from the presence and support of a Doula, particularly with the additional benefits of naturopathic treatment if desired. Working with a Doula has been shown to decrease duration of labour, improve birth outcomes and increase a woman’s satisfaction with her birth experience. Dr. Cherevaty’s Doula services are covered by insurance plans for naturopathic visits.
